Facilities Work Group Update and Next Meeting Oct. 28

The Rumney facilities work group has met numerous times over the past six months, and continues the effort needed to develop a revised school improvement/renovation initiative that prioritizes that building’s needs, taking into consideration life-cycle costs and serviceability of the building, in order to ensure a solution that will serve our community well for the long-term and that is consistent with the community’s ability and willingness to pay.

We have conducted building walk-thrus with several contractors, and solicited the advice about our project scope and how to best address the building's needs. More recently, we have been working on a request for proposals (RFP) to solicit bids for additional pre-construction services, knowing that we need revised building layout and cost information to be able to effectively communicate project components and scope to the community.

Before issuing the RFP, we will be meeting with the State's School Construction Coordinator - Cathy Hilgendorf - to make sure we have a full understantding of state requirements that are likely to impact our project and also to discuss different ways we might structure project management and control costs. She has agreed to join us this coming Monday, October 28th, at 6:30pm in the Rumney library.

I hope that many of you will be able to attend this meeting. I think it will be a great opportunity to reconnect with the facilities project and have many questions answered!
