This weekend is the Freaky 5K trail race hosted by the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. This race benefits vital environmental conservation and youth development work in Vermont –run AND support!

This is a timed race with prizes. As a Halloween themed event, costumes encouraged - your creative and daring wardrobe could get you a great prize as well!

The Second Annual "Freaky 5K Trail Race" will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 10:00 AM, at the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps in Richmond. This is the beautiful red barn on Route 2 just east of Richmond village. The race will take you through farmland and conserved woods.

Last year was the event’s inaugural year – 112 runners competed and set the bar high. The time to beat this year is 21:32; and the costume to out-do is a one-armed lumberjack with a chainsaw!

Registration is $35 ($25 for students and VYCC alumni). This gets you a bib, goodie bag, fleece headband, and refreshments afterwards: Skinny Pancake will be serving up delicious crepes!

Proceeds support VYCC programs. This is a great way to celebrate the VYCC – run challenging trails built by past Corps Members while enabling more youth to participate in coming years.

Online registration and information at www.vycc.org/5K.

There are also volunteer opportunities. For more information, please contact Kelsey Adams at the VYCC at 434.3969 ext. 113.

Please spread the word to friends, neighbors, and family.
