Last March, all across Chittenden County, about 400 students slept out in solidarity with homeless young adults as part of the Spectrum Student Sleep Out. In backyards, football stadiums and school yards, kids ages 9-18 unrolled their sleeping bags to raise money and awareness, and more importantly to show their support for at-risk youth. Community service is proven to instill empathy and self-esteem in children, as well as boost academics. For more information on how to register for the Student Sleep Out and on how your child’s participation helps to keep the doors of Spectrum open to homeless youth, please contact Jett Choquette at jchoquette@spectrumvt.org.
