Come enjoy a child-centered celebration welcoming in the Year of the Rooster at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School. Chinese New Year is an exciting time for sweeping away bad luck and welcoming in good fortune. There will be a dragon parade, goldfish kite making, a Chinese folktale, and Chinese cuisine. All children will leave with a paper envelope containing play gold coins–a traditional token of good fortune.
This festival was inspired by the Waldorf School's International Program. It offers an opportunity to see how Waldorf students learn about other cultures everyday: through singing, listening, tasting, creating, and doing, children see into a world far from their own, and get a window into how others live and celebrate. There will be an opportunity for questions and conversations about Waldorf at the end of the festival for those who want to learn more. The school is located at 359 Turtle Lane, Shelburne. RSVPs are appreciated. You can register online www.lakechamplainwaldorfschool.org or call Pam Graham (802) 985-2827 ext. 212.
