A celebration of contemporary dance in the heart of winter, in the center of the state, with two evenings of performance and one day of masterclasses!

CONTEMPORARY DANCE PERFORMANCES
Friday and Saturday February 3rd and 4th

In collaboration with Lost Nation Theater, and with sponsor Halyard Brewing company, the Vermont Dance Alliance presents Vermont’s finest new works, highlighting choreographers from around the state and region. The performance will feature work by Nicole Dagesse, Scotty Hardwig, Christine Harris and Paul Besaw. (We are very grateful to have Halyard Brewing Company as a sponsor to this event! Halyard Brewing Company uses organic and fair-trade ingredients to brew gluten free and alcoholic ginger beers.)

WINTER DANCE GALA CONTEMPORARY DANCE CLASSES
Montpelier’s City Hall Art Center, 39 Main Street, Montpelier Vermont
February 4th
11-12:30 with Nicole Dagesse (murmurationsdance.org)
Follow your deep appetite for momentum, contact, and play in this exhilarating contemporary masterclass with Nicole Dagesse. With a focus on three-dimensional movement of the body in space, this class incorporates floor work, creative center exercises, and dynamic traveling patterns. Improvisational scores blend with set choreography to inspire and nourish the creative mover.

2:30-4pm with Scotty Hardwig (hardwigtanz.com)
In this class we will move with fluid, primal efficiency from floor to standing, emphasizing the elemental movement patterns of crawling, shifting, rolling, and inverting the vertical hierarchy of the body to cultivate agility, fluidity, strength and move-big potential. Long pants and kneepads recommended.

$15 suggested (10-20 sliding scale) per person. Please arrive early to pay.
Open to intermediate-advanced dancers ages 16 and up.
