This week at the Food Affair.
Turkey Shepard's Pie - freshly roasted turkey with vegetables (no corn) and mashed potatoes grown in Richmond.
Vegetarian Shepard's pie - carrots and lentils and other good stuff topped with mashed potatoes.
Hot biscuits
Roasted butternut squash
sauteed brussel sprouts
gluten free chocolate cake for dessert.
The Friday Food Affair @5 is a weekly free community meal open to all. Take a night off from cooking and take the family out. Enjoy friends or make new ones. Always a good time.
Donations are accepted, but not expected.
Of course, you are also welcome to come and help set up, serve or clean up. These are always jobs that can use more hands. Many hands make light work. Set up starts at 4 pm. Clean up starts at 7 pm.
Please consider volunteering to cook one of these Fridays. It is really fun - you get to meet all sorts of people. If you can get 3-4 friends together and you all make one dish or pot of soup or stew - it is also very easy. Make dinner for 30 - 50 new friends! Some reimbursement is available if you can't afford all the ingredients.
A great service project for an organization or a group of kids who need community service hours. Sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084DABA728A64-dinner/3529717
Cooks from neighboring towns are also welcome. The people who come represent many sectors of the community. This is really a community event and gives us all a chance to meet our neighbors and share a meal. There is always a vegetarian offering and often we have gluten free, too.
See you there at the Richmond Congregational Church on Bridge Street. You can see what it is all about at http://vimeo.com/74463425
