Until a fellow pianist volunteered to play free of charge,I had a regular gig at an assisted living retirement home. Then despite the fact that my audiences were very appreciative and the home's staff constantly complimented me on my playing, I was discontinued. My fee was nominal; according to the person who hired me, within the institution's budget.
