Jan 23, 2017, 7:30 to 10:30 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of January. Our meetings are held in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.

We will begin our evening with a work session at 6pm that will include an Executive Session on the Burlington Town Center Development Agreement. This is a public memo from the Mayor outlining issues remaining to be negotiated on this agreement.

We will then convene a Local Control Commission meeting at 7pm. Our Council meeting will begin immediately after. We have a busy agenda Monday evening.

Our first item on our agenda is a presentation from the New Moran group that will include an update on their proposal for the Moran redevelopment.

We will then move to a communication from the Mayor on the appointment of Mary Danko to be the new Director of the Fletcher Free Library.

We will have a presentation from our auditors with Melanson and Heath. This is an important presentation and will include a review of the City’s financial health, reserves and the progress we have made on our finances.

Following the approval of a indoor entertainment permit for Simple Roots Brewery, we will have a two public hearings on Charter Change items that we are proposing to be on the Town Meeting Day ballot in March. Following these hearings, the Council will be voting to approve placing them on the ballot.

We will also be voting to place on the ballot an advisory question to recommend a $15 minimum wage to the Vermont Legislature. A local group in our community has been actively working to bring this to the Legislature. The ballot item would be advisory but would send a message of support to Montpelier if this measure is approved in March.

Our last item is a resolution to approve a partnership agreement with the Burlington Business Association regarding downtown parking and transportation management.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:
https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

My best,
Karen
