Come enjoy a child-centered celebration welcoming in the Year of the Rooster at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School in Shelburne. Chinese New Year is an exciting time for sweeping away bad luck and welcoming in good fortune. There will be drumming, a dragon dance, and goldfish kite making for kids ages 5 and up. All children leave with a paper envelope containing play money–a traditional token of good fortune.
This festival is being hosted by the Waldorf School's International Program with Chinese high school exchange students bringing their own traditions for us to enjoy. It will offer the public an opportunity to see how Waldorf students learn about other cultures—through festivals they sing, listen, taste, and see into a world far from their own, and get a window into how others live and celebrate. There will be an "Intro to Waldorf Talk" at the end of the festival for those who want to learn more about Waldorf Education. The school is located at 359 Turtle Lane, Shelburne. RSVPs are appreciated. You can register online www.lakechamplainwaldorfschool.org or call Pam Graham (802) 985-2827 ext. 212.
