Brookfield Annual Ice Harvest and Winter Festival
The Brookfield annual Ice Harvest and Winter Carnival will be held from 10:30 to 2:30 on Sunset Lake in Pond Village, Brookfield, Vermont on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Do you remember the opening scenes from Disney’s Frozen: ice cutters sawing blocks while singing magical songs? Well, find out whether Hollywood got it right – we’ll be demonstrating ice harvesting from the 1800s, including using historic tools and techniques; and you can cut a block and haul it out yourself! Following the ice harvest enjoy winter carnival activities such as skating, sledding, pond hockey and broomball and winter story-telling at the nearby library. Chili, hot chocolate and baked goods will be sold by the Brookfield School Club. This is a free event for the whole family.
