EM Selectboard Public Hearing

The East Montpelier Selectboard will be holding a public hearing regarding proposed amendments to the EM governance charter on Monday, January 16th, 6:00 p.m. in the public room of the Emergency Services Facility (the new fire station; 54 Village Acres). The EM Charter Committee has recommended amendments that would shift the Town Clerk and Collector of Delinquent Taxes positions from elected to appointed, as was done for the Town Treasurer position three years ago when the charter was originally adopted by the town.

You can review the relevant documents, including the formal notice, the Charter Committee's report and proposed language, along with draft Selectboard tweaks to the proposed amendments, here: http://eastmontpeliervt.org/january-16-2017-selectboard-hearing-meeting/ Also at that site are other documents for the Selectboard meeting that will be held immediately after the hearing, including the close-to-final FY2018 budget and draft warning for 2017 Town Meeting.

Assuming the charter amendments continue forward toward a vote at 2017 Town Meeting, there will be a second hearing on the amendments as part of 2017 Town Forum, Saturday, March 4th, 9:30 a.m. at EMES.
