Pop-Up Maasai Cultural Event at the Barn House Jan. 22

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We are very pleased to announce two Maasai cultural "pop-up" events in the Barn House at the Clemmons Family Farm on Sunday January 22, 2017. Our guests include Daniel ole Iree, an elder of one of the last Maasai tribes in Kenya who have maintained their traditional, semi-nomadic lifestyle. Daniel will give a presentation on Maasai life and customs. There will also be demonstrations of the Maasai music and dance traditions (and yes, you will be invited to try a few dance moves) and opportunities to ask questions about the Maasai culture. Come explore the Barn House and its exhibits, and catch a story or two told by Jack and Lydia Clemmons about their adventures in Tanzania and Kenya, and their experiences with the Maasai. We'll also invite some of you to "storytell" about your own experiences working, living and traveling in Kenya and Tanzania.

There will be a morning and an afternoon event, and admission is FREE. However, to ensure the quality of the cross-cultural experiences with our Maasai guests, we are limiting admission to the first 25 people who sign up for each event, and we are only announcing these events to YOU, our friends and neighbors in our wonderful town of Charlotte. Children 8 years old and younger do not need to register but must be accompanied by an adult whose name is on the sign-up roster.

Please bring cash, as our Maasai guests will also be selling some beautiful jewelry, arts and crafts and they will be grateful for your cash donations too. Your purchases and donations will support of water source construction for their community in southern Kenya. Find out more about the events, which will be in the morning and afternoon of Sunday January 22, on our "secret" webpage: http://www.clemmonsfamilyfarm.org/events.html

Be sure to sign up-- to keep these events truly special, only the first 25 people (plus children) whose names are on the list will be admitted to each event.

Wishing you well!
