I'm happy to say, my Kenyan/Maasai friend Daniel Iree will be presenting at this event next Friday! Their culture is very traditional and so interesting:
Members of the Maasai Indigenous Project of Kenya are traveling in the U.S. to raise awareness and funds to improve water collection infrastructure in the southern region of their country in Kajaido County. The Maasai are a nomadic, livestock-based people whose wealth has been measured in cattle and their food base has largely revolved around meat and milk from their livestock.
Through a Vermont connection, these visitors will be coming to present about the challenges of managing water in a part of the world that spends eight months without rain, as well as their culture and grazing management. This presentation is part of the larger Vermont Grazing & Livestock Conference.
Donations to support their infrastructure project will be gratefully accepted. They will also have traditional jewelry and handcrafts for sale.
Location: Lake Morey Resort, 1 Clubhouse Road, Fairlee, VT 05045
