The Vermont Humanities Council presents Gregory Sharrow, co-director of Middlebury’s Vermont Folklife Center, who will explore farm culture of the past, and how it relates to today’s Vermont, at the New Haven Town Offices. He will discuss how the character of a place is shaped by its cultural heritage and its folklife––the informal traditions of family and community. The cultural legacy of farming has strongly influenced the identity of Vermonters, forming distinctive traditions that have persisted, despite a decline in the number of farms over the years.
This event is free and open to the public and accessible to those with disabilities. This Vermont Humanities Council event is hosted by the Friends of the New Haven Library. For more information contact Susan Smiley at 802-388-6601 or Norma Norland at 802-545-2637.
