The Davies Memorial Library has 3 exciting events to kick off the new year this Saturday, 1/14. Check out the details below:

AT 11:30: WINTER SEED SOWING WITH ROBERTA HOROWITZ

The temperatures may be below freezing and your garden beds may be under several inches of snow, but it’s never too soon to start thinking about starting your seeds! Join us on Saturday, 1/14 at 11:30 as Roberta Horowitz walks us through the ins and outs of Winter Sowing. Winter-sowing is an outdoor method of seed germination which is simple and inexpensive and requires requires just two things: miniature greenhouses (made from recycled water or milk jugs or clear 2 liter soda bottles) and Mother Nature. Who doesn’t like easy and inexpensive? And who doesn’t have a few recycled jugs hanging around?

Roberta, an experienced winter-seed-sower, will be on hand to walk us through the process and answer questions as we look toward spring and begin to plan our gardens. Free and open to all!

AT 1:00 AN INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION WITH REGISTERED HATHA YOGA INSTRUCTOR, NANCY CYR

Meditation refers to a broad variety of practices that includes techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy and develop love, patience, generosity and forgiveness. Please come join is to experience an array of meditation enhancers and the joy of group meditation.

AT 1:30(ish) A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH AND WELLNESS WITH HOLISTIC HEALTH PRACTITIONER, LILLIAN BURRINGTON-JENKS (this class will directly follow the meditation class, feel free to drop in for either or both!)

January’s class will include tips and techniques form Ayuvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Functional Medicine. We’ll also have some great healthy, nourishing and healing recipes to share.
