It was 1902 when a deposit of talc was identified on a hillside at the end of Railroad Street in Johnson. Soon a mill was built and a mine opened.
Learn about this important industry from Dean West, who remembers many details about the operation as well as the people who ran the machinery. He will use the Historical Society’s collection of photographs to bring the story
to life.
It is free at the Holcomb House, 188 Main Street E., Johnson.
The Holcomb House will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. with the presentation starting at 2 p.m.
