The Burlington Shape Note Singers welcome you to a “singing school” weekend – which includes a workshop with renowned shape note singing teachers and filmmakers, Matt and Erica Hinton from Atlanta, Georgia. (You may have heard this music in the 2013 film, Cold Mountain, with Nicole Kidman and Jude Law.)

Friday, January 13 - at Contois Auditorium, City Hall, 149 Church St, Burlington:

Saturday, January 14 - at Contois Auditorium, City Hall, 149 Church St, Burlington:
10:00am to 12:30pm - Singing School (shape note) with Matt and Erica Hinton
12:30pm - Dinner on the Grounds / Potluck Lunch
1:30pm to 4:00pm – Singing (shape note music is also known as sacred harp)
Singing will be from the 1991 Denson edition of The Sacred Harp. Songbooks will be available to borrow and purchase.
All are welcome - no singing or musical experience necessary.

7:30pm – Tim Eriksen with Peter Irvine - Concert of traditional American music at Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, Black Box Theatre, 60 Lake St., Burlington. Cost: $15-20, sliding scale. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
