Come for a guided winter hike at Vermont's newest State Park, the Taconic Mountains Ramble. This is part of the First Day Hikes offered at parks around the state. We will meet at noon at the Hubbardton Battlefield to take in the view of Zion Hill. From there we will venture into the new park and up to the top of Zion Hill, where we have a view of the Battlefield, the Adirondacks, and the Pittsford range. We will also see the famous Japanese Garden, peacefully quiet for the winter, which was created by the donor of this property, Kit Davidson. He and his wife Mickie loved to entertain guests so we will complete our hike in their honor with fresh fruit and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. PLEASE bring snowshoes and/or icewalkers as there will be some very icy patches along the way. This is a moderately difficult 3 hours round-trip. Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome on leash. Questions the day of the hike? Call the park manager in residence, Alyssa Bennett, at 802-353-4818.
