Christmas Eve Caroling at Bandstand!

Past event
Dec 24, 2016, 2:30 to 3:30 PM

Hi everyone! Just a reminder that we'll be doing caroling at the Middlesex Bandstand on Christmas Eve. I think the weather should be good for us. Looks mild and clear in the afternoon. Perfect!

Would still love to get a few musicians on board, if possible, but we'll be there singing, no matter what! :)

Here are the details again, in case you missed it!

Dear Friends and Neighbors!

When I was a little girl, we would carol all around our town, going from house to house. It was really special, and I remember it fondly. But that's a little impractical here where our homes are so widely spaced and often up steep and challenging roads!

So, why not bring everyone together in one place, we thought! Caroling at the bandstand!

I made a little Facebook event page for it, so all the info is in one place:

I'll make a bunch of song sheets, and we'll bring along a vacuum pot of coffee and some cups. If anyone else wants to bring thermoses or pots of warm beverages, that would be super. Dress warmly! We will be outside at the bandstand, barring any really kooky weather. In case of rain (heaven forbid!) or really insanely intense cold, our backup location will be the Rumney School gym. But if it's just snowing, we should still be out at the bandstand. That would be so pretty!

We'd love to have a few musicians to play along or at least to start us off on the right note and keep us in line! ;) So please bring your instruments, if you're willing, and join in the fun. If you have portable amps you'd like to bring along, that would be cool too, as we won't have any kind of mic or amplification. Just our own natural voices!

And if you have any fun accoutrements like jingly sleigh bells, bring those along, too.

We'll start at 2:30pm. We figured to go until about 3:30ish, unless we all get too cold! So I guess we'll just play it by ear :)

We look forward to celebrating with everyone!
Paul and Tara

P.S. Happy to include songs from other traditions that have a special celebration at this time of year...I just don't happen to know any! So if you want to throw something in, just bring enough copies of the words for a bunch o' people.
