Grace Cottage Offers Tai Chi Classes
Starting in January, the Grace Cottage Community Wellness Center will host two new fitness classes. “Tai Chi/Qigong” will be offered on Thursdays beginning January 5th. “Tai Chi for Fall Prevention” will be held on Tuesdays beginning January 10th.

The soft, flowing movements of this ancient Chinese practice are widely acclaimed as one of the most effective overall exercises for health--physically, mentally, and emotionally. Tai Chi is especially beneficial for flexibility, balance, and proper body alignment.
The Thursday “Tai Chi/Qigong” class runs from January 5th – February 16th from 3:30-5:00. The cost is $5/class. The class will be led by Jason Sperling, an area educator who received direct instruction from masters in Yang Family and Hunyuan style Tai Chi and Qigong. Register by January 3rd by calling 365-3649.

The Tuesday “Tai Chi for Fall Prevention” class runs from January 10th – February 28th from 1:30-2:30. This “sun style” class is designed for seniors and those with physical limitations. Taught by Alicia Moyer, the class focuses on developing balance and flexibility, and avoiding debilitating falls. The class is free but pre-registration is required by January 5th. To register or for more information, call 365-3753.

Classes are held in the spacious and serene Community Wellness Room in the Heins Building at 133 Grafton Road, Townshend. More at www.gracecottage.org.
