The City Council will meet at 7:00 p.m. on December 19, 2016 in Contois Auditorium. The first item on the agenda is a report from the retirement board. After receiving this report, the City Council will hold public hearings on the following proposed zoning amendments: (i) to rezone Fletcher Place to residential medium; (ii) to withhold the approval of new zoning permits for properties with outstanding violations or open and expired permits; (iii) to rezone 168 Elmwood Avenue to neighborhood mixed use (iv) and to shorten the terms of the planning commissioner terms to 3 years. After the public hearings, the City Council will vote on the proposed zoning amendments.

Next, the City Council will take up a number of proposed charter changes including: (a) one to clarify when the mayor presides at a meeting when appointments are taken up; (b) a proposal to increase city councilor pay from $3,000 per year to $4,500 per year; (c) a proposal to increase the number of members of the board of registration of voters from 10 to 12; (d) a proposal to permit delivery of notice of a special meeting of the City Council by electronic mail (and not by hand); (e) a potential ballot item on changing the timing of payment of property taxes.

Public forum will be held at 7:30 p.m. where members of the public are invited to speak to the items on our agenda or any other City related matter.
