Mountain River School Hot Cider Sale for Charity

Past event
Dec 19, 2016, 9:30 to 11:30 PM

On Monday, December 19th the Rivers (K) and Streams (TK) classes from Mountain River School will be selling hot cider from Cold Hollow Cider Mill at the Spruce Peak Pavilion on Stowe Mountain. We will be there from 9:30-11:30. All the money collected will be donated to your choice of North Country Animal League or COTS (Committee on Temporary Shelter).
The children became interested in opening a stand after a family donated a lemonade stand to our classroom. We introduce a working cash register and the interest in learning about money began. The children have been learning about the value of coins through games, real life situations, books and more. At the end of each week we reflect on “Our Likes, Our Wishes and Our Wonders” for the past week and the upcoming weeks. The children “wished” we could open up a lemonade stand. We brainstormed other items to sell and chose hot cider! Then, we had to decide what to do with the money. Some of the children’s ideas included buying things for our classrooms, splitting it up or donating the money to those in need. After a class vote the children unanimously decided to donate to those in need. The children voted for North Country Animal League and COTS out of five possible charities! With help from Cold Hollow Cider Mill (cider), Topnotch (beverage warmers), PK Coffee (cups), Stowe Mountain (for letting us rent the pavilion) and parent support we were able to make this happen! The children have made signs to advertise the Cider Stand and a sign to show the different ways you can make 50 cents!

If you're in the area please stop by and buy a cup of hot cider!
