Dear Friends,

The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Hartland is hosting the International Hour of Peace. It takes place annually on New Years Eve Day all around the world. It starts at 6:45 a.m. EST (be thankful we don't live on the west coast). Afterwards for those that wish there will be a potluck breakfast. Please come a few minutes early so we can start in unison with all other Peace gatherings happening at the same time. If you come in late, please come in quietly.
The International Hour of Peace is also known as World Healing Day and World Peace Day, the Hour For Peace is a global effort launched in 1986 by John Randolph Price and the Quartus Foundation to offer people all over the world an opportunity to gather together for peace, love, understanding, and forgiveness through a simultaneous global mind–link at noon Greenwich Mean Time on December 31st of each year. Based on the Quantum Physics principle that thought can direct energy and thus create reality, the event is designed to synchronistically join millions of minds around the world in prayer, meditation, music, art, dance, poetry, readings, dialogue, and other ways to focus on and manifest lasting peace on Earth.
We will start with a guided and silent meditation and end with lighting candles from the World Peace Flame (we will have candles, but if you like bring a special candle of your own). In between those two events there is an opportunity for people to share a song, poem, story or some inspirational words of your own or someone who inspires you towards Peace.
