The new and widely popular Boston-based quartet features four distinct voices clustered around a single microphone, their tightly-arranged tunes drawing from the unexpected, including strains of bluegrass, classical, and even barbershop. Accompanied by an arsenal of classical strings, guitars, mandolin, and percussion, these four close friends swap instruments from song to song and offer a sound that defies standard genre classifications.
Darlingside’s outstanding new CD, “Birds Say” was released by Thirty Tigers in September 2015, with Press by Jim Flammia of All Eyes Media and the band supported Patty Griffin on tour much of the Fall. www.darlingside.com

Kris Gruen, from Montpelier Vermont, opens the show at 7:30pm with a short set of original music.  His Americana influenced new folk is grounded in the tradition of great narrative songwriters like Cat Stevens and Paul Simon and yet Kris’s voice is strikingly current. A New York City native who’s put down roots in Vermont, Kris effortlessly blends sagacious wit and emotional depth. www.krisgruen.com
