HP Lighting Ceremony and Frosty the Snowman Dec. 2

Past event
Dec 2, 2016

On Friday December 2, Hyde Park residents and guests gathered at St Teresa's Parish Hall and at the Lanpher Memorial Library for our annual Winter event. On behalf of your Hyde Park Community Circle, I'd like to say "Thank you" to all who were involved with the planning and presenting of this year's successful Lighting Ceremony and Frosty the Snowman event. And we want to say Thank you to all who came out in the snowy weather to enjoy the festivities with us, counting down the Christmas lights.

First thank you is to Dan Young for his tireless behind the scenes work composing and printing order forms for the electric bills, lighting the Parish Hall walkways, securing the beautiful wreaths and garland from Paine's Christmas Tees, and coordinating with Jared for the village Christmas lights to come on with a community-wide countdown, and other stuff he just does because he's Dan. Thanks to Dan and helper Everett Dickinson for their time preparing those large wreaths and garland with white lights before the ceremony. And thank you Dan for coordinating placing these in Hyde Park and North Hyde Park for all to enjoy. Thank you for your inspiring community spirit, Dan.
Second big Thank you is to Deborah Henderson, our Secretary and Treasurer, for her behind the scenes work in receiving and keeping the light orders organized, newspaper ads placed, and keeping us all on track with reminders and task lists.
Many thanks go to Tim Yarrow for being our beloved Frosty the Snowman, and thanks to Nate Perham and family for leading our sing-along. We couldn't do it without you! Thank you to Amy and Ruth at the Lanpher Memorial Library for offering the space to have the Frosty event every year. Thanks to the Frosty crafters Terry MacWilliams and Marilyn Zophar, and parent helpers especially Susan and Ryan Hayes.
Thanks to St Teresa's Church for the use of the Parish Hall for the Lighting Ceremony part of our annual event, too. Thanks go to our Readers Jon and Deb Henderson, who read aloud each of the names of the loved ones and their donors. Thank you to our Wreath Lighters Everett & Melanie Dickinson, and Andrew & Deirdre Dupree who lit a white light with each name read. Thanks to Master of Ceremony Karen Weeks, Greeter Carol Young, Guest book Judy Clark, Village lights Dan Young and Jared Nunnery. Many have already thanked me for the real milk Hershey's hot cocoa this year. Delicious! But, I couldn't have done it without my husband's help. Thanks to Twig for his assistance. Thanks to our many cookie makers we had two tables full of cookies! We thank you all very much.
Your Community Circle is totally devoted to this wonderful community, presenting four annual events where local area family, friends and neighbors can enjoy time together. We like to involve as many as we can, helping folks get to know each other, sharing an old fashioned value: the sense of community. Hyde Park is a great place to be.
And, last but not least, a big "THANK YOU" to all who came and joined in the festivities of the evening. We all had fun!
