Friends of Music at Guilford presents its 44th annual holiday program at the iconic Rt. 5 landmark at the corner of Melendy Hill Rd. Two performances are planned, the first on Friday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m., the second on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 4:00 p.m. The Guilford Chamber Singers and Chamber Players perform holiday music from the British Isles; Don McLean reads "A Church Mouse" by prominent American author Mary Wilkins Freeman (1852-1930), who lived in Brattleboro as a teenager; we all sing a few carols before heading away into the winter darkness as the church bell rings. Donations at the door are shared with this historic church, which hasn't had an active congregation since the early 1900s, though it was the first Episcopal church established in Vermont.
