A hearing on a zoning application for an 8000 sq. Ft trucking terminal building on Tuppers Crossing is being held at the town offices. As the submitted plan states this will be a 24 hour hazardous waste and petroleum depot with a fleet of 8-10 (to start)tractor trailer and tanker trucks parked outside in plain view of route 7.They propose an outdoor tractor trailer truck wash for 30 trucks a week to start. The plan is for 20 ft pole lighting at all times and a chain link fence around the property. This is proposed for a residential street that the town seems to be trying to turn into an industrial park. This area is very wet and is the groundwater supply for many wells. It also slopes and drains into the Little Otter Creek. Petroleum and Hazardous waste tractor trailer trucking terminals in the full line of sight of residents, tourists, commuters sure would seem to not be a welcome addition to this town. The proposed plan can be seen at the town offices. The zoning meeting is 7 pm on December 7 at Ferrisburgh town offices. This is a public meeting and all are encouraged to attend.
