Pumpkin Hill Singers & Pipe and Slippers Concert

Past event
Dec 8, 2016, 7 PM

Two popular local ensembles close Danville’s “Holiday on the Green” with traditional and popular songs of the season on Thursday, December 8, at the Congregational Church at 7 pm. The Pumpkin Hill Singers open the program, mixing traditional and popular songs of the season. The Singers perform a cappella, with David Hare adding percussion effects like calypso rhythms and the windy twinkle of chimes. Pipe and Slippers follow with their original and traditional songs. Andrea Otto’s sweet soprano is backed by Alycia Moore on fiddle and Nathan Colpitts on guitar and mandolin, who also take their turns with lead vocals. Owen Davie on bass and David Hare on drums underscores their performance. Then the two ensembles come together, inviting the audience to sing along for a couple of carols, before they sing “Home to Vermont”, a reflective Christmas song composed by director Susanne Terry and husband Steve Parker. In keeping with Pumpkin Hill tradition, the audience is invited to sing along on the chorus of “Julian of Norwich” to close the evening with the hopeful refrain: “Let the winter come and go. All will be well again, I know.”
