The newly formed Summerville Neighborhood Association in St. Johnsbury warmly invites you to participate in their first Holiday Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 10 from 4pm to 6pm. The event will be held at the Chet and Pat Buck Memorial Park (formerly known as the Portland Street Skating Rink). This free event is open to the public and will feature hot chocolate, holiday music and ornament making to decorate a community tree that will be erected in the park.
Core members of the Summerville Neighborhood Association have been meeting to rejuvenate the group and plan events for the Summerville area of town, which will also benefit St. Johnsbury as a whole. The holiday tree lighting comes on the heels of the very successful Summerville Block Party that was held in August of this year, with over 200 people attending.
Going forward, the group hopes to grow its base to include neighbors from each street of the Summerville area. In areas where Neighborhood Groups are strong, property values increase, crime decreases, and neighbors have a unified voice in what happens in their area of town. There is strength in numbers, and joy in working together.
This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with neighbors and friends. You do not need to bring anything other than your desire to brighten the neighborhood and connect with people. This event will be family friendly. See you there.
