Come try Shape Note Singing at the Waterbury Public Library (28 N. Main St.) today!
Shape Note (also known as Sacred Harp) is an American choral folk tradition of colonial psalmody and modern tunes, which are sung unaccompanied, in 4-part harmony. It sounds and looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svP2QvyHQ7M.
All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary-- Shape Note was actually created to teach folks how to read music, so even if you don't have a musical background this is a great way to learn sight-reading and harmony. Loaner books and snacks will be provided.
Come by the library this Thursday (December 1st), and every first Thursdays after that, for a wonderful evening full of energetic singing and community.
