Christmas Bird Count Dec. 17

Past event
Dec 17, 2016

Come join us for the Christmas Bird Count, the nation's longest-running citizen science bird project, which will take place in the Randolph area on Saturday, Dec. 17!

“You can start at midnight and go for 24 hours,” said Brian Lowe, who took over the position as the compiler of the bird count information after Rick Ensner moved. “I’m looking for quite a few people to join in this event and enjoy themselves,” Lowe said. “Last year, we had 16 birdwatchers who saw over 800 individual birds, and this year, we hope to get a lot more!”

Anyone who wants to participate should let Brian Lowe know in advance by calling 802-282-6493 or emailing him at vtbirdguy@yahoo.com and letting him know where you'll be birding. Afterwards you can contact him with the number of birds, the species of birds, etc. seen within the local area. If the weather is really foul on December 17 we'll do it on the 18th. If you’re unsure if the weather is "bad" enough, contact Brian to check in.
