Guest Lecture from Doug Flack

Past event
Nov 30, 2016, 9:30 to 11 AM

Sterling College's Human Nutrition class will be hosting a guest lecture from Doug Flack, PhD. Entitled "Food as a Primary Health Provider," this workshop will demonstrate the extent of our epidemic of degenerative disease, show historically how processing crept into our food system, point out nutrient losses of major food types, and contrast these issues with local farm foods that should replace those compromised items.

Flack combines scholarly and in-the-field knowledge in his lively and challenging presentations about farming and nutrient dense foods. Doug's presentations focus on the principles of a healthy diet as defined by Weston A. Price and the relationship with biodynamic foods. He also runs Flack Family Farm in Fairfield, along with his wife Barbara. They produce vegetables, medicinal herbs, grass-fed meats, raw milk, and eggs.

The lecture will be at 9:30 a.m. in Common House on campus. All are welcome.
