The Greater Burlington Women's Forum invites you to a FREE film screening of the inspiring underdog story KEEPERS OF THE GAME at Burlington High School, Tuesday, November 29th at 6:30pm. The film follows the Salmon River High School girls lacrosse team in Fort Covington, NY, our neighbors to the west:
Born in Akwesasne Mohawk Territory, lacrosse began as a sacred game, traditionally reserved for men. The Salmon River all-Native girls lacrosse team seeks to be the first Native women’s team to bring home a Section Championship. As the season goes on, the team is faced with increasing ambivalence in their own community and the girls must prove that the game of lacrosse is their rightful inheritance. With more than just the championship on the line, the girls fight to blaze a new path for the next generation of Native women, while still honoring their people’s tradition in a changing world.
The film is free, open to the public and appropriate for older children. Run time is 90 minutes with a short panel discussion to follow. Bake sale hosted by BHS Girls Lacrosse Team starting at 6pm.
