Stowe High School Thespian Society presents "Urinetown, The Musical" this weekend. Urinetown: The Musical is a satirical comedy musical that premiered in 2001, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. Set on the outskirts of a large Midwestern city, the plot circles around the town's severe water shortage. It satirizes the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and municipal politics. Given the recent political upheaval in our country, the show allows both actors and audience to step away from the reality of life, even if only for a moment, and to relate to in humorous, sometimes ridiculous and sometimes meaningful ways.
