The Castleton Historical Society will host a program on America's early school slate industry which began right here in the Slate Valley. Dale and Joan Prouty, long time area educators and museum programmers, take us back to a simpler time before paper and batteries in their presentation,"Nineteenth Century Tablets-Schoolhouse Slates," on Sunday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Castleton Community Center. The program will include examples of slate improvements designed and marketed to the needs of schools and young scholars during the 1800s through the mid-1900s. Please join us for this free, handicapped accessible program. Refreshments will be served. Questions?: Call Holly at 468-5105
