Ilsley Library Space Needs Forum Tomorrow!

Past event
Nov 10, 2016

Join us Thursday, November 10, starting at 6:30pm in the Library Community Room for a facilitated discussion concerning the space needs of Ilsley Library.

NOTE: If you can't make the meeting, stop by any time the library is open--from Friday the 11th until the following Thursday the 17th--for a self-guided feedback exercise. This exercise will involve walking though the library, looking at six areas that we've identified as needing improvements, and providing feedback on those areas as well as any others not covered. A booklet will be provided for feedback to be recorded, and all booklets will be given to the architects and the building committee as part of the overall feedback.

The purpose of tomorrow's meeting is to solicit your input on potential renovations to the library’s historic building. Constructed in 1923, the building poses challenges to the library’s long-term ability to fulfill its public mission. The Ilsley Trustees and the Library Building Committee have been exploring this issue for two years, and the time is now right to reach out to the public.

The meeting is designed to gather ideas and allow community members to help prioritize issues and opportunities, not to present designs. This meeting is unique and critically important, because it will enable you to advise Ilsley and its architects (Gossens-Bachman, a Montpelier-based firm) before any design work begins.
