Join in Saturday's John Dewey Commemorative Parade organized by artist, FRANK Gonzalez.

Arrive at the Fletcher Free Library at 10:00 Saturday morning and enjoy the process of creating your own mask to wear in the JDC Parade up and down Church Street to follow. Born on Oct. 20th, 1859 in Burlington, Vermont, John Dewey was a world re-known and influential philosopher. A strong advocate of hands-on learning, John Dewey shared his understanding of the goal and purpose of education as "to prepare him for the future life means to give him command of himself; it means so to train him that he will have the full and ready use of all his capacities" (My pedagogic creed, Dewey, 1897). Dewey had a strong belief in living into one's potential and finding ways to use one's gifts to enrich the lives of others. Everyone welcome - families and children strongly encouraged to JOIN IN.
