Election Party at Intiative Waldorf School

Past event
Nov 8, 2016, 6:30 to 9:30 PM

Are you feeling the need for some comic relief this election? You are invited to a very zany election party my civics students at the Initiative Waldorf High School are planning. Not only will we be screening live election results; students, parents & teachers at the Initiative will also present short plays, comedy, and the big item... a whole mock election complete with made-up candidates, parties & ideologies!

Two students, going by their political noms de guerre TorTess Barber & Wrabbit Perchlik, will vie for your vote — and SuperPAC contributions — with their concocted "parties." No red elephants or blue donkeys here: the green tortoise and the purple hare are already competing for your loyalty on social media.

Will you vote for a #GreatLeapUpward or to #MakeAmericaSlowAgain? Can the ol' US of A pull a rabbit out of a hat in the seemingly intractable fight against global evil, or should we pull back into our shell and stay there? Will your campaign contribution go in the top hat or the hard hat?

The race is on from 6:30 to 9:30 on Tuesday, November 8th. After you've voted (you're voting... right?) just make your way to Goddard's Pratt Library in Plainfield, VT with $10 (and any other lavish campaign spending you may want to do to boost your candidate and our awesome civics program, which gets rural Vermont youth engaged in public affairs and is accessible to all regardless of income). Students are $5, kids under 12 free.

Want to reserve your ticket today? Head to InitiativeWaldorf.org/ElectionParty (you can even vote online and make an optional campaign contribution, giving your chosen mascot the fabled head start...) But don't let us catch you napping on November 8th! Get out to the party and have a laugh while the results come in.
