Veteran's Day Event

Past event
Nov 13, 2016, 3:30 to 5:30 PM

Dear Neighbor,
Join the Peace & Justice Center in honoring Veteran's Day with our Healing a Soldier's Heart event on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Main Street Landing. Reception and refreshment at 3:30 with filmmaker Ed Tick and Kate Dahlstadt, co-founders of Soldier’s Heart. Film at 4:30 followed by discussion during which Ed Tick will eulogize Ed Bloch. Ed Bloch was a WWII veteran who’s daughter, Linda Ayer, serves on the PJC board. He was a remarkable man who perfectly embodied the power of reconciliation and peacemaking.
Soldier’s Heart, founded in 2006, tends the invisible wounds resulting from war and military service. These wounds are now commonly called “PTSD;” during the Civil War, they were known as “Soldier’s Heart.” Soldier’s Heart believes that these “soul wounds” are sacred and, properly tended, can lead to wisdom and transformation. We offer genuine homecoming and a path for post-traumatic growth to troops, veterans, families, and communities. Their mission focuses on veterans and their families but transcends their wounding to include the entire society.

$10 suggested donation. Free for veterans and people under 25, no one turned away for lack of funds. Tickets on sale at Peace & Justice Store or call 802-863-2345 x2. With sponsorship from Main Street Landing.
