I'm passing this on for those interested:

My name is Gretchen Bailey, I live in Burlington and I'm a committed and long-serving Commissioner on the Vermont Commission on Women (VCW).

I'd like you to join me at a screening of the new documentary, EQUAL MEANS EQUAL, the evening of Thursday, November 10th at Main Street Landing's Film House, 7 PM. Thanks to Main Street Landing, all film screening proceeds will benefit VCW's Education and Research Foundation, which funds educational activities of the Commission. Suggested donations will be $5.00 each and we hope to fill the theater!

This film by Director Kamala Lopez has a goal to educate and raise awareness about the urgent need to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, and it is described as an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today. Examining both real-life stories and precedent-setting legal cases, Director Lopez uncovers how outdated and discriminatory attitudes inform and influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system. Along the way she reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

Please join me and help spread the word about this timely documentary.

Sincerely,

Gretchen
