Join children's book author Tamara Ellis Smith and author and sociology professor Alice Fothergill at Phoenix Books in Burlington, VT for a Book Benefit for Baton Rouge Schools.
Baton Rouge was hit hard by flooding in August 2016, and many schools lost their entire libraries. Join Tamara and Alice as they team up to help replenish some of those beloved books. Tamara will read from ANOTHER KIND OF HURRICANE, her middle grade novel, and Alice will read from CHILDREN OF KATRINA, her study of kids displaced by the storm. Both will talk about their work together, as well as Baton Rouge's latest natural disaster (and other, even more recent, disasters too.) Tamara just returned from Baton Rouge, where she visited some of the schools and their amazing students, and she will discuss that experience as well. Specific books that these schools need will be available from Phoenix Books for purchase to donate.
The event is free.
Please contact Tamara at tsesmith@gmavt.net if you have any questions about the event.
Thank you!
