Brattleboro, VT--The feature film “Here and There” or “Vengo Volviendo” (in Spanish) will be shown at the Latchis Theatre on November 16 at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Q & A with the filmmakers, Gabriel Páez and Isabel Rodas of the Ecuadorian film production company FILMARTE. The film is in Spanish with English sub-titles and is suitable for all ages.
The story follows Ismael, an indigenous Ecuadorian youth desperate to follow his parents who have immigrated to the US. With a childhood friend Luz, the two crisscross the Andes Mountains by car, meeting various characters who raise troubling questions for Ismael about his destiny.
Striking visuals of the Ecuadorian landscape are the backdrop to the developing relationship between the two traveling young adults while “Vengo Volviendo/Here and There” illustrates the legends of the highlands communities.
Dedicated to producing and disseminating feature films with social and cultural relevance, the Ecuadorian film production company FILMARTE trains local youth from rural communities to serve as the film’s writers, actors and technical staff.
Sponsors of the single showing of “Vengo Volviendo/Here and There” are World Learning/SIT Study Abroad, Express Fluency, and Gogi Abroad. Tickets are $10 for adults; $7 for students available at the door only the night of the film. Latchis Theatre is located at 50 Main St. in Brattleboro, VT.
