Seems obvious now, right? Human health, animal health, plant health, & environmental health are all connected. So how do we put this awareness into practice? One Health Day is November 3, and the week is full of conferences and events all over the globe, but on Tuesday, November 1 at 6:30 pm, the Baldwin Library in Wells River will host a discussion of One Health and what it means for us locally. Dr. Jill Skochdopole of the Ryegate Small Animal Hospital will review some of the initiatives in our area, and Didi Pershouse, alternative health practitioner from Thetford and author of "The Ecology of Care: Medicine, Agriculture, Money, and the Quiet Power of Human and Microbial Communities", will offer her perspective and share her book. Copies of Pershouse’s book will be available to borrow or purchase, and an extensive collection of other relevant books may also be borrowed, courtesy of One Health. Refreshments will be served. The library is located at 33 North Main Street and is ADA accessible. Please call 802-757-2693 for more information.
