In case you missed the T/A article about the WCSU Act 46 Study Committee, it seems Chauntelle has resigned as the Calais voting member of that committee and the board will elect her replacement at the meeting Wednesday night.
There will also be a discussion of the Act 46 Study Committee.
At the last School Board Meeting some of the Board members seemed to feel that doing anything but accepting the Agency of Education’s mandate for one board and one budget for the 5 towns would be risky. What is risky is agreeing to this and there-by eliminating our own school board, likely losing our building and having a minority voice on such a central board FOREVER. There would be no going back.
These carousel – merry-go-round – round-about – meetings will continue the rest of the year going from school to school. The Supervisory Board Meeting will be from 5:30 – 7:30 and then the individual boards meeting somewhere in the building. Each meeting you will need to find out what school to drive to for the Calais School Board Meeting and then when you get there, find the room where the Calais Board is meeting.
If you value our community, our school, the grass roots democracy of our small towns, please get involved and/or get educated about this critical decision for Calais, Berlin, East Montpelier, Middlesex Rumney School and Worcester Doty School.
