Apple Gleaning at Hall's Orchard Thursday

Past event
Oct 27, 2016, 9 AM to 12 PM

The Healthy Roots Collaborative is hosting an apple gleaning event on Thursday at Hall’s Orchard in Isle la Motte, and they need your help! They will be harvesting apples from the trees (the apples are gorgeous this year and the picking should be easy) and sharing the harvest with our neighbors in need.

The apples will be delivered to local food sites such as Islands in the Sun Community Center in Alburgh, the Grand Isle Food Shelf, and CIDER. Please help them gather as many apples as possible!

Join the Collaborative and local community members on Thursday, November 27th from 9 am to 12 pm. It may be cold, so please come prepared with many layers, warm boots, hats, and gloves you can get a good grip with. You should also bring water and snacks (although there will be lots of apples to eat!). The Collaborative will provide harvest totes and all other necessary tools.

Hall's Orchard is at 4461 Main Street in Isle La Motte. Meet at the farm stand for directions and tools. Please let their Gleaning Coordinator Hannah know if you can make it- email or call food4fairfield@gmail.com or (603) 545-8171.

And if you’d like to carpool from South Hero, please email emily@shlt.org.
