From Saratoga Avenue to Ethan Allen Parkway, James Avenue to Cottage Grove, New North End City Councilors often hear concerns from constituents about the need for speed damping and increased traffic safety in our neighborhoods. Concerned NNE residents will want to attend a special meeting of the City Council's Public Safety Committee that will take place this Thursday evening, October 27, at 5:30 pm at the Burlington Police Department Community Room, 1 North Avenue. The sole topic of the meeting will be traffic safety in our neighborhoods (as opposed to on major thoroughfares such as North Avenue or Pine Street). Department of Public Works and Police Department representatives are expected to be on hand. I encourage my friends and neighbors to attend, speak about concerns in their specific neighborhoods, and learn about traffic calming options such as bump-outs and speed bumps and the process for potentially getting stop signs installed in needed locations.
