Vermont Emergency Management is holding free training for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT members are trained to be prepared to take care of themselves and others during an emergency and assist local emergency response agencies.
Vermont residents age 18 or older or youth accompanied by a parent or guardian are invited to participate in a 20-hour course that will cover:
Disaster Preparedness
Fire Safety
Disaster Medical Operations
-Triage & Treating Life Threatening Injuries
-Assessment, Treatment, and Hygiene
Light Search & Rescue
Team Organization
Disaster Psychology
Terrorism and CERT
The training session is scheduled for Friday Nov 1st 6:30PM-9:00PM, Saturday Nov 2nd 8:30AM-5:30PM, and Sunday Nov 3rd 9:00AM-5:30PM at the Colchester Center Volunteer Fire Department, 483 Main St, Colchester. This course is free of charge and you are encouraged but not obligated to join CERT. Lunch will not be provided.
