National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

It’s a great time to clean out your medicine cabinet! Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting our waters. Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high - over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, including the home medicine cabinet, and often without their knowledge.

Saturday, October 22 is National Drug Take Back Day. Turn in your unused or expired medications at prescription drug disposal sites in Addison County. The Addison County Sherriff’s Department will be taking unwanted medications on Saturday from 10am – 2pm at their office, 35 Court Street in Middlebury. The Middlebury Police Department, located at 1 Lucius Shaw Lane, has a permanent prescription drug drop box where medications can be left during their office hours Monday – Saturday.

Protect our kids, families and environment by properly disposing of your unwanted and expired medicines. Thank you!
