Dear Neighbors,
The plan to extract sand from the heart of the Saxon Hill Forest is going to the Natural Resources Board for Act 250 approval.
This is considered a major application.
The hearing date is Thursday, October 27 at 9:30 a.m.
The hearing will be held at the Agency of Natural Resources, 111 West Street, Essex Jct.
There will be an on-site walk before the hearing at 8:30 a.m. To join the on-site walk meet at the gate on Thompson Drive.
If you don’t believe allowing sand extraction in the oldest part of the forest is in the best interests of the citizens of Essex, consider getting involved.
If you are not an abutter, you will need to acquire party status, as follows:
Petition the three Act 250 Commissioners at the hearing on Oct. 27th. (Write a letter to the Board explaining why changes to this permit will negatively affect you as a resident of Essex. Your arguments must be based on one, or more, of the ten criteria that are allowed by the law. The ten criteria are at http://www.nrb.state.vt.us/lup/manual.htm.)
Bring a hard copy of your letter with you to the hearing.
To read about the application, go to https://anrweb.vt.gov/anr/vtanr/Act250.aspx, then type in the project number: 4C0329-20.
Thank you!
