New Haven Armchair Naturalist - Hedgerows and New Haven

Past event
Oct 27, 2016, 7 to 8 PM

Join us for the New Haven Conservation Commission's first Armchair Naturalist talk of the season - Hedgerows and New Haven with Mark Krawczyk at 7pm at the New Haven Town Offices

Hedgerows have played an important role in agrarian landscapes around the world for hundreds of years. These remnants of past land use patterns, refugia of biological diversity, invaluable wildlife corridors, impediments to wind and sun, and stores of resources from trees and shrubs often lie overlooked as we survey the biological resources in our communities. Come learn about the history of hedgerows both at home and abroad, their utility and function for humans and wildlife, and learn about several in-tact hedgerows in our New Haven community, both old and new.

Mark Krawczyk is a local ecological planner, woodworker, builder and educator.
